Get Picky - August

I came across Get Picky, its a challenge blog. They run 2 challenges in a month one is a Sketch Challenge and the other is an inspiration challenge.

I thought I would have ago at the sketch challenge...

Below is the sketch that was given...

And here is my take on the Sketch:

I placed a chipboard title onto the corner of my cardstock and lightly glimmermisted over it to make the title of this layout, I love the effect it has..

The leather heart is from Purple Pumpkin, and the Heart pin and Lace are Maya Road.

Show Us Your Stuff - August

I had a go at both challenges over at Show Us your Stuff this month.

The First challenge was to use Paint, Include the colour red, Handmade flower, Include some fussy cutting & Use a decorative strip!

Also this month if you added some paper beads to your layout as a technique you go into the draw to win a prize.

here is my take on the challenge:

This is a picture of my Dad's Parents on their Wedding Day

A close up of the flower I made

This is my attempt at a rolled bead made into a butterfly with some of the patterned paper

Just a random close up from the top right of the layout.

The Second challenge was to use the Quote:

"Life is like a great big canvas and you should throw all the paint on it you can" Danny Kaye

And here is what I came up with...

The quote just made me want to use LOTS of bright colours so this is what I came up with...

 I Made this Penguin Brad

I made these clouds too...they are so easy...I used an imaginisce stamp of a Cloud and stamped using Staz On in Black onto White cardstock and then cut the cloud out and ran it in my 'Big Shot' using my Swiss Dots embossing Folder. EASY!!!

And my take on the Sketch:

I used the song lyrics from the song 'Glory of Love' by Peter Cetera. My Hubby and I had this as our Wedding song, cos we both love the Karate Kid movies (and this was one of the songs from the movie)

Black With 2 August Challenge

This month on Black with 2 the Challenge was: On black cardstock using GREEN and NO flowers.

I loved the idea of NO FLOWERS...i struggle with placing flowers on my layouts...something i cringe at every time someone mentions flowers on layouts...I do have a bit of a green thumb when it comes to gardens tho :)

So here is my take on the challenge:

My big boy Andy...I love this pic of him :)

A close up of my twine and greenage at work :)

Close up of the quote i used instead of a title

My birdie...he was made all by me...i drew him and everything..i am so clever when i want to be...
And the most expensive thing on my layout....LOL the stick from the garden :)

Hope you like..

Thanks for looking...

White With 1 August Challenge

I know, I know...I look like ive been a little slack in the Blog area of my life...and it is all in good reason...My shop has been busy organising a retreat for a wonderful group of ladies.....and its done for the year..YEAH!

We all had a wonderful time on our retreat, but its over for the year, so Trace and I can now relax and try and get back into the normal swing of things...

My first attempt of a layout for the month is the challenge over at White with 1

The Challenge was to do a layout with White + Purple + Doodling...

Here is my layout...

Here is a Pic of my Niece Mia, she is soooo cute

 Close up of my Doodling
I made my own purple mist...woohoo...

I didnt have an 'A' or a 'T' so I made the T our of the number 4 and with the off cuts I was able to turn a V into an A  (AWESOME!)

Pretty basic layout for me, but Im finding Im not getting anywhere with my layered layouts...so thought I would change my approach.

And a song with Beautiful in the title....and a fav of mine...You're Beautiful by James Blunt
